History
of NITE
Before Bessheen Baker was a teenager, her family, through
the guidance of her mother, took an interest in nutrition, herbs, and
the study of iridology. It wasn't long before Bessheen and Nancy Fodor
were studying and taking courses from herbalists, chiropractors, and
naturopaths. In her teenage years, Bessheen became aware how difficult
it was to get an education in natural health. From this awareness, her
life dream was formed: to build a school for true naturopathic training,
where people of all age groups and educational backgrounds could come
together and create a foundation of understanding and develop it into
an art.
In 1992, Bessheen met the man that would put this dream in
motion. One year later, they were married, and after two years of traveling
together throughout the country teaching natural health, Jim suggested
that it was time to found the Institute. In 1995, the Naturopathic Institute
of Therapies and Education (NITE) took physical form, starting with
one classroom and the first student to enroll was Nancy Fodor, Bessheen's
mother.
Since then, 31 graduating classes with students from all across
the country have received diplomas and set forth to change the face
of health in this country. NITE offers three areas of specialty: therapeutic
massage, naturopathy, and homeopathy. The uniqueness and high quality
of the school and its students are known nation-wide. Instructors are
highly respected within their individual disciplines and hold national
accreditation. The growth of the Institute has been so rapid that we
now look forward to our further expansion to a 70-acre campus, hopefully
by 2006.
