Directed studies are designed to continue education and learning beyond the classroom. They are part of all programs and students shall expect approximately 30 hours of assignments for each class period of 20 hours. The type of assignments varies. Some examples:

  1. Book Summary (up to 15 hours of directed study credit): 5- to 10-page summary of a book assigned by the instructor;
  2. Lecture with visual aids and/or diagrams (5 hours of directed study credit): 1-hour lecture given by the student to ten or more people on the assigned subject. Student will provide an attendance sheet or letter of confirmation, which will be verified by N.I.T.E.;
  3. Practical Application Logs (1 hour of directed study credit for each hour logged): Students will practice and apply what they have learned in class on actual clients. Log sheets will be provided and clients will be contacted;
  4. Anatomy Work Book (30 hours of directed study credit).
  5. Create handouts, trifolds, and booklets from building clientele and business understanding (up to 10 hours of directed study)
  6. Seminars: In the 3rd and 4th year Natural Health programs, students will advertise, create, and teach seminars (up to 20 hours of directed study).

Additional types of studies may be assigned by the instructor, who will provide handouts in class specifying requirements, due dates, and number of hours.
